Ken Pavlick has over 24 years of professional dog training experience. After completing 2 years of college in Moscow, Idaho, he started his canine career in the United States Air Force.  Ken was a first a handler, and later a trainer and supervisor of patrol dogs, explosive detection dogs and narcotic detection dogs. Upon leaving the service, he was a canine handler for the Riverside County Sheriff's Department in California. Eight years later, Ken returned to Idaho to work for the Canyon County Sheriff's Department.  After selecting, training and handling the department's first patrol dog, the sheriff asked Ken to create a K9 Unit.  As the head of the K-9 Division, he was responsible for the selection and training of both handlers and their canine partners.  In Ken's eight years with Canyon County, he increased the K9 unit from one to fifteen dogs!  Ken also trained dogs for numerous other agencies in Idaho.  He quickly became recognized as an expert with working dogs, and a sought after speaker/trainer at numerous conferences and seminars in both the United States and Canada.  Ken continued to expand his expertise by obtaining numerous professional accreditations as both an instructor and a certified competition judge.

While working in law enforcement,  Ken's advice was frequently requested by veterinarians, humane societies and private citizens.  He donated his time to train and certify search and rescue dogs from numerous states.  After receiving many requests, he started providing private and group obedience training for people and their pets.  He has worked with dogs ranging from Pugs to Rottweilers, and most every breed in between.   He eventually began teaching with Jim Closson at A Better Pet School of Dog Training in Meridian, Idaho.  Ken's knowledge and experience,  combined with his patient and easy-going manner, quickly made him a favorite with clients.  Ken left from the Sheriff's department to move to Washington State and open the first official franchise of A Better Pet School of Dog Training. He now offers private and group lessons, breed and temperament selection, problem solving, tracking, Schutzhund, scent detection and protection dog training.   ** Recognized Certifier for the AKC - Canine Good Citizen Awards Program **

Did you
KNOW?

That obedience training to a dog is like an elementary education to a child. Without it, a puppy or dog has no direction. Obedience training creates a positive, stronger bond between the dog and owner. Obedient dogs are appreciated much more than dogs with several bad habits.
